Men’s basketball team called up for Paris-2024

The Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB) announced this Thursday (11) the call-up of athletes for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The list includes the 12 names who participated in the Latvian Pre-Olympics last week, with the addition of guards Elinho and Alexey Borges. Of this group, 12 will be able to compete in the French capital.

Shipowners Yago and Raulzinho suffered injuries during the pre-Olympic Games, but are still undergoing treatment to compete in the Olympic Games. Raul suffered a strain in the back of his right thigh during his pre-Olympic debut. Yago, who returned to action after a grade 2 strain in his left calf, suffered a contracture in the same area in the pre-Olympic final.

Due to the uncertain situation of the two great players, Elinho Corazza and Alexey Borges were called up to take part in the training phase before competing in the Olympic Games. According to CBB, both Yago and Raulzinho are being monitored by multidisciplinary professionals from the technical committee and their physical conditions are improving.

Key dates

At this time, all athletes are leaving after winning their Olympic spots. The group will perform in Zagreb, Croatia, on the 17th, for a week of training before leaving for France, which will take place on July 23. In Lille, where the first phase matches will take place, Brazil will face Canada in a friendly behind closed doors.

Returning after an eight-year absence, Brazil is in Group A of the Paris-2024 men’s Olympic basketball tournament. The country will play against France, Germany and Japan. The team led by Aleksandar Petrovic will make its debut on the 27th, against the hosts, at 12:15 (Brasilia time).
