If a wedding celebration is often synonymous with joy and celebration, in The Perfect Couple the celebration is interrupted by murder. After The Bottom of the Family with Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman is teaming up with Netflix again for this series, adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s novel of the same name.
The story follows author Greer Garrison Winberry (Nicole Kidman) and her husband Tag Winberry (Liev Schrieber), both heads of a wealthy and seemingly perfect family. As they prepare to marry their son, the union turns to disaster when a body is discovered in Nantucket Harbor. All guests are suddenly suspicious.
Netflix recently released a trailer for this highly anticipated series, part of the “whodunit” – a detective sub-genre that revolves around a murder and a criminal who needs to be unmasked. Above all, the perfect couple carries the most delightful actors.
Around Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber, we find Dakota Fanning, Megan Fahy (White Lotus), Jack Raynor (Midsommar), Donna Lynn Champlin (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Ishaan Khattar, as well as Isabelle Ajan. The French actress appears in a few shots in the trailer, but her name is curiously not mentioned.
The series is directed by Susan Bier, director of, among others, Bird Box – the Netflix hit – and The Undoing, another fiction with Nicole Kidman.
