After 14 years of good and faithful service and no less than 285 episodes, Blue Bloods is bowing out at the beginning of the next school year on CBS. The detective series, directed by Tom Selleck, was effectively canceled by the American channel last November, despite the success of the fiction audience.
It is actually the third most watched drama on CBS with 9.54 million viewers. A number that increases to 11 million thanks to repetition. Following the announcement of this cancellation, Blue Bloods fans and cast members have united in hopes that the network will decide to make a change.
In addition to the “#SaveBlueBloods” campaign led by fans on social media, stars of the series – including Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg – have expressed their desire to continue the series. Unfortunately, CBS stood their ground and confirmed that the detective series will not be returning for an additional season.
A spin-off soon?
Despite the cancellation of Blue Bloods, fans attached to the Reagan family continued to hope that a spin-off would see the light of day. In June 2024, Paramount Global CEO Brian Robbins made an announcement to our colleagues at TVLine that left the door open for a possible spin-off series.
