Will Smith’s first Christian/Gospel single, “You Can Make It,” debuts on the Billboard charts (dated July 13). Released on June 28, the song enters the Hot Gospel Songs chart at #3, in addition to appearing at #23 on the Hot Christian Songs chart. The song has amassed 726,000 radio listeners and 665,000 official streams in the U.S., in addition to selling 1,000 copies as of July 4, according to Luminate.

The movie star and rapper makes his first appearance on the lists. His latest film, “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” which also stars Martin Lawrence, premiered on June 7.

“I was talking to myself,” Smith told Billboard of the song, which he co-wrote. “Seeing so many people connect with intention gives me a clear North Star for this next chapter of my creative life.”

Smith and the Sunday Service Choir performed “You Can Make It” live for the first time at the 2024 BET Awards at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles on June 30, accompanied by Kirk Franklin and Chandler Moore.

Smith has had two solo No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100: “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” in 1998 and “Wild Wild West” with Dru Hill and Kool Mo Dee in 1999. He achieved fame in the late ’80s/early ’90s as (the other half of) the DJ duo Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, who reached No. 4 on the Hot 100 with “Summertime” in 1991, and as the star of the television series “Um Maluco no Pedaço.”
