Architect Ernő Rubik turns 80 this Saturday (13), which also marks the fiftieth anniversary of his most popular invention: the Rubik’s Cube.
This Saturday (13), architect Ernő Rubik celebrates his 80th birthday – and, in turn, we also celebrate the 50th anniversary of his most famous invention: the legendary, beloved (and feared) Rubik’s Cube! O Youtube embraced the occasion and created (literally) one of his own yoodles to celebrate.
The relationship between YouTube and Magic Cube It’s no coincidence: the platform has been the main “classroom” for those who want to learn to drive.
To give you an idea, in a press release the company even stated that in the last 365 days alone there have been more than 15 billion views of Rubik’s Cube-related videos on YouTube.
To celebrate the Rubik’s Cube’s birthday, the platform revealed that it’s no longer about lining up all the colors, but rather about completing the challenge in the most innovative way possible and finding new creative uses for the iconic toy.

“From playing with assisted solutions technology experimenting with artistic activities, these creators use their videos to connect with a shared global group of Rubik’s Cube masters,” the platform says.
50th anniversary of the Rubik’s cube
Ernő Rubik invented the Magic Cube in July 1974. The idea of the Hungarian architecture professor was to develop a prototype of a three-dimensional cube that he could use to teach his students about three-dimensional spaces.
The following year the three-dimensional cube was patented and became known as the Magic Cube. In 1980 it was renamed the Rubik’s Cube, as it is still known today in other countries.

Over time, the Rubik’s Cube has gained popularity all over the world. In 1982, the first Rubik’s Cube World Championship began in Budapest. Fun fact: First place was achieved with a time of 22.95 seconds.
There are currently several formats and proposals for toys that entertain and at the same time keep people awake at night who want to learn.
