Babi Domingos Wins Bronze in Ribbons at World Challenge Cup

History made! This Sunday morning (14) the finals of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup took place in Romania. There, Babi Domingos concluded his historic participation in the tournament by winning bronze in the ribbon competition, in addition to participating in all the individual finals. The Brazilian team also did well, climbing onto the podium of the five bows. The good presentations and good results encourage Brazil on the eve of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.




The bronze medal for Bárbara Domingos came in the last event of the individual series, in the ribbons. To the sound of “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga, the Brazilian performed spectacularly, reaching a score of 32.350. Babi was close to silver, but Hungary’s Fanni Pigniczki scored 32.900 and was ranked second in the final performance. The big winner was Ukraine’s Taisiia Onofriichuk with the same 32.900.

Before the bronze, Sunday began with the final of the archery group. Bárbara Domingos, as in all three other individual finals, represented Brazil in the decider. To the sound of the theme song from The Lion King, Babi shone, gave a good performance and received a score of 33.700, which guaranteed her fifth place. The Israeli Daria Atamanoo, with 36.450, was the big winner. While the podium was completed by the Bulgarian Stiliana Nikolova (35.200) and the German Margarita Kolosov (34.950).

Then came the final of the dance series. This time Bárbara performed slightly below the first, with 33.200 points and was in seventh place. German Darja Varfolomeev, with 36.400, won the gold. Behind her, Bulgarians Stiliana Nikolova (36.150) and Boryana Kaleyn (35.800) completed the podium.

After the break for the group events, the individual events resumed with the mace and ribbon finals. In apples, Babi performed well again, scoring 33.450 points and placing fifth. The champion was German Darja Varfolomeev with 35.850, just 50 points ahead of Bulgarian Stiliana Nikolova. Finally, Israeli Daria Atamanoo, with 35.200, rounded out the podium in third place.

Bronze narrowly escaped!

In the five-bow decider, Brazil came very close to leaving with a medal on their chest. The Brazilian group, with Duda, Victória, Déborah, Sofia and Nicole, opened the competition. To the tune of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody”, by Whitney Houston, the Brazilian girls performed a beautiful performance obtaining a score of 37.350. The score could have been even higher, but the falling of the device during the changeover resulted in an infraction.

The Israeli team won gold with a flawless performance, scoring 39.400 points. Italy followed with a score of 38.750. Brazil held on to the bronze until the last performance. However, the Bulgarian team scored 38.700 and knocked the Brazilians off the podium.
