Shannen Doherty, who plays Brenda in Barrados no Baile and Prue in Charmed, dies at age 53 from aggressive cancer
Actress Shannen Doherty died last Saturday (13) at the age of 53 from aggressive breast cancer. Doherty was best known for her role as Brenda in Banned at the Prom (Beverly Hills 90210)and Prue, inside Enchanted: Young Witchesand Leslie Sloane, the actress’s publicist, confirmed her death on Sunday morning.

In a statement to People magazine, Sloane mourned Doherty’s death after a nine-year battle with the disease and asked that the family’s privacy be preserved.
“It is with heavy hearts that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of battling the disease. A devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones, as well as her dog, Bowie. The family requests privacy at this time so they can grieve their loss in peace,” Leslie Sloane told People magazine.
Battle lasted almost a decade
Shannen Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and revealed in April 2017 that the disease was in remission. However, in 2019 the cancer returned aggressively, already metastasizing at stage 4, after having spread to her brain in 2023.

Despite his serious condition, Doherty fought until the end, and used his fame to raise funds for research and visibility to raise awareness of the disease, diagnosis and treatment.
