Business representatives are the ones most frequented by Luís Roberto Barroso, beyond the meetings with members of the three Powers; The STF states that the increase in the number of meetings with agents of the business world is linked to institutional collaborations
BRASÍLIA – As the trips of the ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) abroad to attend events organized by the private sector have become the subject of criticism, the Court, under the leadership of its president, Luís Roberto Barroso, has adopted as an official response to questions from the press that magistrates “speak” with “lawyers, indigenous people, rural entrepreneurs, students, unions, business confederations, among many other segments of society.” But among all of them, which are the sectors and social actors that receive the most attention from the head of the Judiciary?
OR State has compiled all the public hearings of the President of the STF since he took office on 29 September 2023 until 4 July this year. All meetings included in the official agenda were taken into account, including those held during business trips. In a note, the Court specifies that the current management has “given priority to holding hearings relating to projects developed by the management and institutional representation of the Court”. Barroso’s agenda was the only one analyzed because he is the main representative of the judiciary in the country and because most other ministers present at the court do not disclose their daily commitments. The survey shows that despite the diversity of segments served by Barroso, only a few are received on a recurring basis by the head of the country’s highest court.
