Could Netflix have a new hit on its hands? That’s something to check out with The Thursday Murder Club, an adaptation of Richard Osman’s bestseller. Published in 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, this book took the reader out of the anxiety of being arrested on a huge pitch: a police investigation into a nursing home.
The story tells about a group of residents at Coopers Chase Retirement Village. Every Thursday they get together to solve fictional crimes just for fun until they find themselves in a real case.
Netflix is thinking big for this adaptation. In the cast we find Helen Mirren (The Queen) as a former spy, Pierce Brosnan (James Bond) as a former activist, Celia Imrie (Bridget Jones) as a former nurse and Ben Kingsley. (Gandhi) as a former physicist.
Netflix released the first photo of the actors on the set:

Also joining the cast are Jonathan Pryce (The Crown), Richard E. Grant (Star Wars), David Tennant (Doctor Who), Naomie Ack (Lady Macbeth), Henry Lloyd-Hughes (Killing Eve) and Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso).
The film is directed by Chris Columbia, the director of the first two Harry Potter films.
