Weverton regrets Palmeiras defeat and talks about moving on


The goalkeeper gave a great performance against Botafogo, but could not avoid defeat against the Rio team in the direct duel for the leadership of the Brazilian championship




Botafogo defeated Palmeiras with a score of 1-0, in a match of the 17th round of the Brazilian championship. The striker Tiquinho Soares decided the duel, at the Nilton Santos stadium. The goalkeeper Weverton, the best player of Alviverde in the match, regretted the defeat.

The goalkeeper, in fact, made beautiful saves in one-on-one with the Juventus forwards, including Júnior Santos, on two occasions. However, he did not avoid the negative result and spoke of moving on to the next round.

“Of course we came here looking for a win, but those at home saw a great game. Both teams played forward, ahead. It was a great game. There’s a lot of championship ahead and a lot of things to happen. Nobody likes to lose, but we’ll keep going,” said the Alviverde goalkeeper as he left the pitch.

Palmeiras returns to the field on Saturday (20), when they will face Cruzeiro at home. The team of Weverton, Abel Ferreira and co. is second and has 33 points, but can be overtaken by Flamengo, which is third and has 31 points, with a game less.
