Avengers 5 and 6: A surprise return for the next Marvel movies?

Avengers 5 and 6: A surprise return for the next Marvel movies?

Is this one of the surprises planned by Marvel Studios during the San Diego Comic-Con panel that has been revealed in advance?

A few days before the event, on Saturday, July 27, The Hollywood Reporter Announces that Joe and Anthony Russo have begun talks to return to the MCU and direct… Avengers 5 and 6 are scheduled to hit our theaters on April 29, 2026 and May 5, 2027, respectively.

If a reunion were to happen, it would be the fifth and sixth films from Marvel directors and writers, after two Captain Americas (The Winter Soldier and Civil War) and as many Avengers (Infinity War and Endgame).

Feature films that have grossed more than $6.7 billion worldwide. Including nearly 2.8 for Avengers Endgame alone, which was the biggest hit of all time for a while before Avatar took advantage of the re-release and reclaimed its crown.

But one of the reasons for the possible return of the Russo brothers is not difficult to understand.

The change is (not) now

That being said, news should not raise questions. Because it goes against the trend of recent months, where the names of Sean Levy or Sam Raimi (whom few believed but who were mentioned anyway) were floated to replace Destin Daniel Cretton, who was previously on the production of Avengers 5. Convicted domestic violence villain Kang’s translator, Jonathan Majors, towels before being fired.

Insider Jeff Snyder said on June 27 that the Russo brothers offered their services Kevin Feige, but that they were politely declined. Fake news or a real turnaround from Marvel Studios finally deciding to reopen a book they thought was closed?

We’ll obviously never know (or not right away), but security and continuity changes take priority over the upgrade.

Avengers 5 New Title and Villain?

After a more difficult 2023, when Guardians of the Galaxy 3 hit theaters and Loki appeared on the small screen as a beacon amid a sky darkened by growing public apathy, it looks like Marvel Studios is starting over again. And Deadpool & Wolverine, coming out on July 24, could give them a new boost.

A few days later, they were even able to take advantage of Comic-Con to officially announce the return of the Russo brothers to business. And reveal the new Avengers 5 title. Time called Kang dynastyThe feature film needs to change direction, and today everything seems to indicate that Jonathan Majors will not really change, but his villainous character will be sidelined.

For the sake of Galactus (Ralph Inneson) or Doctor Doom, is next year’s Fantastic 4 more or less certain? Or the antagonist we’ll be introduced to in Deadpool & Wolverine in a few days? We hope the answer comes from San Diego, and Avengers 6 should at least be inspired by the comics. Secret Wars.
