The first season of “The Acolyte” ended and left “Star Wars” fans with strong emotions and big surprises.
This series, set in the era of the Supreme Republic, culminated in the eighth episode titled ‘The Acolyte’ and revealed big secrets, exposed betrayals and introduced iconic characters from the saga.
What happened in the last episode of the first season of ‘The Acolyte’?
In the latest episode, the tragic truth of what happened on Brendok 16 years ago was revealed when a group of Jedi faced off against a tribe of Force-sensitive witches.
Through this revelation, the series, created by Leslye Headland, closed several mysteries and opened new ones. With cameos from legendary characters from both sides of the Force and an unexpected execution, “The Acolyte” memorably closed its original season.
The first shocking moment came when Qimir (Manny Jacinto) and Osha left the ocean planet in search of Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) and Mae (Amandla Stenberg).
In the shadows of a cave, they are watched by a hooded figure. Although his name is not mentioned, the figure exhibits unmistakable Sith characteristics: long fingers, a stubby nose, and yellow eyes.
Everything points to Darth Plagueis, Palpatine’s mentor, a Sith of the Muun race known for his wisdom and power. His brief appearance leaves unanswered questions about his relationship with Qimir, Osha, and Mae and marks an important moment in Star Wars history.
Master Sol’s tragic death in “The Acolyte”
Qimir and Sol find themselves in a battle where, at first, it appears that the Jedi have the upper hand. However, Osa is the one who ends the match for good.
Without using weapons, Osha kills Sol by using the Force to choke him, thus completing his initiation into the Dark Side.
Sol’s confession of his mistake in killing Mother Aniseya 16 years ago causes her death, which allows Osa to corrupt the ruler of his sword, a symbolic and powerful act in Sith lore.
Osha and Mae, are they twins?
After the flashback to the events at Braddock. Sol and Mei wait for the Jedi in the planet’s orbit, but find their plan interrupted by Osa’s pursuit.
Tension rises when Osha, guided by Qimir’s costosis helmet, finds Mae and discovers her Dark Side destiny.
In a dramatic reveal, it is explained that Osha and Mae are not twins, but were created by Mother Aniseya, who used the planet’s cohesion and the Force. Which makes it clear that this pair are not sisters but clones.
This scene justifies the presence of Darth Plagueis in ‘The Acolyte’, since it is worth remembering that in Star Wars: Ep. III – Revenge of the Sith Palpatine explains to Anakin that his master was capable of creating life. A skill she learned from him before murdering him.
Also known as the Sith Darth Sidious, he used this teaching to clone himself and return in the sequel trilogy. This fact suggests that Plagueis was inspired by Osha’s creation and to learn this power.
Osha and Mae’s future in “The Acolyte”
The arrival of the Jedi led by Vernestra (Rebecca Henderson) complicates matters, but also reveals more about the characters’ pasts. Quimir was a student of Vernestra and because of her mistreatment he went to the Dark Side.
After killing Sol, Osha chooses to follow Quimir as her new master. In a sympathetic twist, the latter shows mercy to May and instead of killing her, erases her memory and allows the Jedi to find and capture her.
Mei, who remembers nothing of her past, is manipulated by Vernestra, who uses her to secretly seek out Quimir.
Master Yoda’s cameo in “The Acolyte”
Master Vernestra Rwoh, after explaining what happened to a committee of the Galactic Senate, attempts to contact someone important, suggested to be none other than Master Yoda.
The episode ends with her meeting the iconic Jedi, where it is suggested that the wise master will be informed of the events and hidden truths of the Braddock murders.
This outcome sets the stage for a potential second season where the quest for justice and exploration of the Dark Side will continue. While a sequel has yet to be confirmed, the unfinished storylines in these episodes suggest that ‘The Acolyte’ is far from over.
