Released in 1968, Roman Polanski’s Rosemary’s Baby has established itself as a horror classic. Fifty-six years later, the world of this masterpiece returns to the screens in the form of a prequel, called Apartment 7A.
The plot of the original film tells about the pregnancy of Rosemary, who has just moved into a large apartment in New York. He is very quick to notice the strange behavior of his increasingly depressed neighbors.
Although she thinks she is sinking into madness, the young woman has no doubt that the residents of the building have a much more important project: preparing for the coming of the Antichrist.
If you remember the movie, the secondary character Terry appears. After a few scenes, the audience learns, along with the heroine, about her suicide. Apartment 7A tells its story in the form of actress Julia Garner, who appeared in the Netflix series Ozark and Inventing Anna.
Before Vanity Fair magazine released the first photos from the film, director Natalie Erica James (Relic) explained what she liked about the project:
“When they contacted me, I was very doubtful. Of course, I would never sign on to remake such a classic and important film. But it was really nice to play in the world of Ira Levin’s novel and also play with the characters.
I think my motivation for doing it was to feel like there was a different kind of emotional journey to explore and to do it in a way that was a little bit subversive of the genre..”
