Global IT failure paralyzes several industries

Mass failure affects Microsoft software used by airports and railways. The riots began in the United States and then spread. A global flaw in Microsoft’s system is interfering with Internet communications, causing problems for numerous companies, including airlines, finance, media and other industries, around the world.

According to the technical fault monitoring site Downdetector, since Thursday night (18/07) there have been sudden spikes in incidents on sites that use Microsoft applications.

The computer problems began to be detected in the United States – where several airlines canceled all their flights – and then spread to other continents.

In Germany, Berlin airport is closed to air traffic. The UK rail network is also experiencing disruptions. In Spain, Microsoft software disruptions have caused irregularities in Aena systems and airports in the network, which have reported delays. In Australia, a large-scale technical disruption has affected several companies, according to the national cybersecurity department.
