Man dies while evacuating his home in Calama
At least one person has died in Chile following an earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale that shook the Atacama Desert region in the north of the country.
According to CNN Chile, a man died in the city of Calama after falling ill while helping his family evacuate their home during the earthquake.
According to the National Service for Prevention and Response to Disasters (Senapred), the earthquake had its epicenter 20 kilometers south of San Pedro de Atacama and occurred at a depth of 166 kilometers.
The shock was also felt in Sao Paulo, which is at the same latitude as Atacama.
