President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has decided to kick off the speeches at party congresses, a process that began on Saturday 20, with a pat on the wrist to his vice president and former governor of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB).
Stressing Alckmin’s good contacts with the industrial sectors, the president said that, in coordination with the ally, he is expected to meet with the pulp and paper industry to announce an investment of around 120 billion reais. “Alckmin said he will bring me the pulp and paper sector, which also wants to invest 120 billion reais.”
Lula recalled the hearings mediated by Alckmin with the automotive, steel and food industries, which in recent months have also announced investments in production units in the country for billions of reais. According to him, these investments will help increase employment and income in the country.
Alckmin, who accompanied the president on the agenda this morning, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), also took advantage of the ceremony to highlight the government’s actions and praise the PT administration. “Lula saved democracy in Brazil,” he said.
