Stephen Herek has been mostly forgotten since the 90s when he directed Disney movies like Little Champions and 101 Dalmatians. For The Three Musketeers, he brought together Martin Sheen (My Uncle Charlie), Kiefer Sutherland (24 Hours), Oliver Platt (Bear), Chris O’Donnell (Batman Forever), Tim Carr (It), Rebecca de Mornay (Milady) and Julie Delpy (Constance ).
What will they like?

D’Artagnan (Chris O’Donnell)
- D’Artagnan, who still has everything to learn, which allows us to easily understand him.
- The humor of the Musketeers is always ready to lighten the mood, even when the situation seems critical. Porthos is the friendliest.
- We think the king is manipulative and naive, but he comes across as perfectly on point and not too gullible.
- Sword fights, which parents will surely find lazy, but will delight the little ones.
What could be bothering them?

Master of torture
- The opening scene, which is a non-graphic torture sequence, but terrifying to begin with. We also see the torture master at the end of the movie that Porthos was fighting and he’s scary enough.
- D’Artagnan is often in danger and we think he cannot escape.
- To their dismay, certain scenes that follow the seduction (Richelieu to Millade, Millade to d’Artagnan, the Musketeers with the girls) may make them a little uncomfortable.
- Aramis is believed to have died of gunshot wounds, but luckily he was saved.
- The king was almost shot by a “sniper” and the build-up of tension before the shot might be uncomfortable for sensitive children.
