The Merc with a Mouth’s first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has action, emotion and many special appearances
For those who don’t remember, the Deadpool in Ryan Reynolds did not premiere in theaters in Deadpoola 2016 feature film. In fact, the hero had already been introduced as the antagonist of X-Men Origins: Wolverinealthough somewhat different from how we know it years later.
In the 2009 production, Wade Wilson is subjected to several procedures and transformed into Weapon XIwhich is placed to fight against Wolverinecharacter of Hugh Jackman. It was the heroes’ first clash in cinemas, but one that many prefer to forget.
However, in 2018, Deadpool 2 put the Chatty Mercenary to relive his past in a fun post-credits scene, in which he killed his old Deadpool and said to Wolverine that in the future, even after Jackman “put away their claws”, the heroes would meet again on the big screen. Six years later, the “prophecy” comes true with the arrival of Deadpool & Wolverine in cinemas starting this Thursday (25).
What is the story of Deadpool & Wolverine?
In the mutant’s first film for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after a great disappointment in his life, Wade Wilson decided to retire Deadpool and chose to continue as a simple — and impatient — car salesman.
However, when the Chatty Mercenary is kidnapped by the Time Variance Authority, the AVT, he discovers that his reality is at risk of being extinguished, along with the love of his life, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), and his friends.
At the agency, Deadpool also discovers that he needs his great rival, Wolverineto try to reverse the situation. Annoyed, he goes after the hero, but when he thinks he has everything in hand to solve the problem, the path of the duo crosses with that of Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), the evil twin sister of Charles Xavier. What do we think of Deadpool & Wolverine?
From the moment it was announced, Deadpool & Wolverine it was a fan service. Who wasn’t eager to see Deadpool It is Wolverine finally together on the big screen — in a decent way —, especially after Hugh Jackman leave the character in the past in Logan2017?
Now, with the movie’s theatrical release, we can say that an impressive collection of special appearances also add to the fan service promoted by the film. To exemplify, they range from Tyler Mane as Sabertoothin X-Men: The Movie(2000), the Aaron Stanford as Pyroin X-Men 2 (2003) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2007), passing through Daphne KeenThe Laura/X-23 in Logan, and even some very well-known faces, which will make the audience scream in the cinema as if they were in a stadium.
But Deadpool & Wolverine It’s not just fan service. With an uncomplicated plot — sometimes too much so, if we are being detailed —, the film focuses on the “rehabilitation” of Deadpool. Without losing the characteristics that made the other films Deadpool a success, the novelty shows how the Chatty Mercenary can be much more than just that and become what he always denied being: a hero.
Almost like a rite of passage, Deadpool & Wolverine presents a new Deadpool – one Deadpool who always wanted to be that way, as the film reveals early on — ready to sit at the Marvel Cinematic Universe table alongside giants like captain America, Iron Man and, of course, Wolverine. Be very welcome, Deadpoolwe were waiting anxiously.
