New blood in the next season of New York special unit. American media TVLine marks the arrival of the former Emergency star to the cast of the detective series, which starred Mariska Hargitay for nearly 26 seasons.
From “Emergencies” to “New York Special Unit”
This is Maura Tierney, Abby Lockhart’s former interpreter at Cook County Hospital! Remember, this appeared between seasons 6 and 15 of the iconic medical show… First a nurse, then Abby resumed her medical studies to become a doctor.
But that’s not all, as we’ve seen the actor in other notable feature films over the years. We were able to follow Maura Tierney in American Rust, Rescue Me, The Good Wife and obviously The Affair. He is also currently starring in Twisters in theaters.
In the special forces in New York, the actor will slip into the skin of a character completely different from his previous roles. While details about this new character have yet to be revealed, we do know that Maura Tierney will play a lieutenant in the famous team led by Olivia Benson.
Maura Tierney joins the cast
As for the rest of the cop show cast that are part of the franchise Law and orderunder the direction of Dick Wolff), there have been several changes in recent months. Indeed, Sam Waterston (Jack McCoy) left the series during season 25, followed by Camryn Manheim (Kate Dixon) at the end of the same episodes.
Tony Goldwyn (Scandal) has replaced former prosecutor Nicholas Baxter. Reed Scott (Veep) joined the cast of NYPD early last year as Inspector Vincent Riley. They were then joined by Hugh Dancy, Odelia Halevy and… Mariska Harigtay, obviously.
Season 26 of Special Victims Unit with Maura Tierney premieres on Thursday, October 3, 2024 on NBC in the USA.
