Batman reveals they are the emergency replacements for the Justice League

The Justice League has once again been attacked and is out of action, and Batman names who the emergency heroes would be.

The Justice League has seen less difficult moments in the past. After suffering so many defeats, the villains have already realized that there is something recurring in all the failed attacks: the action of the group led by the DC Trinity: Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. That is why, in the last sagas, the first thing the villains did was to annihilate the team. This happens again in the current event Absolute Powerand that’s why Batman reveals who the emergency replacements would be.

Warning: spoilers for Green Arrow #14!

In Dark Crisis on Infinite Earthsa previous event in which the Justice League was seemingly murdered by villains, based on a plan by Pariah, Oliver Queen proved to be an “ace in the hole” for the heroes. He was instrumental in the return of Superman and the others to defeat the villains’ plans for conquest.

But of course, since there is always a price to pay, Oliver has been presumed dead ever since. Only more recently did Green Arrow give the signal. He was in another reality, on an alien island that ultimately turned out to be similar to the environment that transformed him into the hero we know.

Now, Oliver has returned to Earth after weeks away from his family, and the heroes are shocked to learn that Green Arrow has betrayed them and is siding with Amanda Waller and her Evil Trinity during the events of Absolute power.

Recent storylines, however, have shown how Amanda Waller has been secretly manipulating him from the shadows once the Justice League was disbanded at the end of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. After confronting her, Waller made her a surprising offer: work with her in the upcoming war in exchange for her family’s safety.

Oliver accepted the offer and retrieved and delivered the files to her from the Justice League Sanctuary, the same place that keeps the secret mental health files of the heroes in Heroes in crisis. With his family safe, Green Arrow did the unthinkable and effectively joined Waller’s crusade to depower and incarcerate the DC Universe’s metahumans.

Who are the Justice League’s emergency replacements?

In Green Arrow #14recently released, Team Arrow receives a transmission from Batman and Nightwing informs the heroes of Green Arrow’s family of Waller’s situation and Oliver Queen’s involvement. Arsenal offers to join the cause, but Batman rejects his offer, telling Roy and everyone else to stay on the island where they are safe.

Batman and Nightwing justify the decision, saying that Team Arrow was spared for a reason; and that Oliver could keep an eye on them, too. Finally, Batman tells Green Arrow’s family that, in the event that the uncaptured heroes fall, it’s up to Team Arrow to stop Waller.

Even though Roy Harper disagrees, this is the best solution for the Justice League at this time. Green Arrow has reached an agreement to keep everyone in Oliver’s orbit out of Waller’s plans. With the exception of Black Canary, Team Arrow has no powers, only abilities, which the Amazos robots cannot take away.

So, if things get worse, Green Arrow’s allies will be the only ones who can stop Amanda Waller.
