Despite the controversy surrounding her portrayal of the Seven Dwarfs, it looks like the next Snow White adaptation has found someone to play the most exciting of them all…
A few months ago, Peter Dinklage, best known for his role as Tyrion in Game of Thrones, slammed the upcoming live-action Snow White movie in the works at Disney. He then pointed the finger at the “hypocrisy” of the studio, which wanted to be “progressive” by casting a Latina actress in the title role, but still continued with “this backwards story of seven dwarves living together in a cave.”
Disney later announced that a new approach would be taken, different from the 1937 classic. The production then talked about replacing the Seven Dwarfs with “magical creatures”, a decision that in turn caused a lot of dismay and sparked new controversy.
But there’s a new twist to the Snow White saga: During a recent appearance at the annual Fan Expo in Denver (via TheDisInsider ), Pirates of the Caribbean star Martin Kleba confirmed his involvement in the feature film. As such, the actor joins the Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot cast as Grimm, one of the seven dwarfs from the classic fairy tale, a character voiced by Pinto Colvig in the original animated film.

In addition to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Martin Decline has also starred in a number of fantasy films such as Men in Black II, Looney Tunes Live Action, The Fantasy World of Oz and most importantly Another Snow White in 2012 alongside Lily. Collins and Julia Roberts.
Go back to the classic version
Disney’s next adaptation will be based on Disney’s first animated classic, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which was released more than 80 years ago and was the starting point for the famed studio’s success. The film will also be inspired by an 1812 German fairy tale written by the Brothers Grimm.
The story of Snow White is clearly that of a young princess exiled to a dangerous forest by her evil stepmother who is jealous of her beauty. Fortunately, he is quickly rescued by seven dwarven miners who reunite him in their home. However, in her stepmother’s desire to be the most beautiful, she tricks Snow White into eating a poisoned apple, which puts the young woman into an endless sleep. In order to break the curse, she must receive a real love kiss – a non-consensual kiss that was also controversial last year. At the time, the original film was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Musical, and Walt Disney received an honorable mention.
In development since 2016, Snow White will benefit from the musical talents of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the duo behind the La La Land and The Greatest Showman soundtracks, from which new songs have been commissioned. Directed and produced by Mark Webb from a script by Erin Cressida Wilson, the project is set to expand the princess universe both in story and music, and production is set to begin soon.
Snow White is part of a growing list of Disney live-action adaptations along with The Little Mermaid, Hercules, Pinocchio and Peter Pan and Wendy, as well as sequels to The Lion King, Aladdin and Cruella.
