George Clooney and Nicole Kidman in an action movie together? It exists… but it’s leaving Netflix soon!

Some films rely solely on their leads. This is the case with The Peacemaker, which brings together the explosive duo of George Clooney and Nicole Kidman. In the mid-nineties, he first became a TV star thanks to the series Emergency, and at the same time established himself as one of the most promising faces in Hollywood. The other is a talented actress who multiplies projects and forms the industry’s most glamorous couple with Tom Cruise.

In this rather banal action film, in the tradition of Mission Impossible, the Australian plays a young woman responsible for nuclear security in Washington at the head of the investigation into the theft of Russian missiles. In the mission, the heroine receives help from the lieutenant colonel with radically different methods than hers.

It’s impossible not to get nostalgic while watching this featurette by Mimi Leder – the director of some episodes of Emergency. The Peacemaker occupies all the codes of a great American production, between the bombastic music – the same Hans Zimmer – the combination of humor with action, a duo of stars with insane elegance. The latter works great and compensates for the many possibilities of the scenario.

The Peacemaker is the first film from Dreamworks, a company co-founded by none other than… Steven Spielberg. He chose George Clooney for the main role. Let’s remind you, the ET director’s company Amblin released the ER series.

When it was released, the feature film was not well received by critics and enjoyed modest success without any real success. Over the years, The Peacemaker has still managed to build a small cult film status with a community of fans. Despite co-participation on the set, George Clooney and Nicole Kidman never worked together again.

The Peacemaker is leaving Netflix soon. A great opportunity to (re)see it.
