Paris 2024: Discover the swimming program that starts this Saturday with the Brazilians looking for medals


Starting at 6am, the competitions will take place in the swimming pool of the Arena Paris La Défense, in Nanterre, with the finals scheduled to start at 3.40pm.




The swimming competitions at the Olympic Games begin this Saturday morning (27), with Brazilians already in search of medals in Paris. Starting at 6am, the competitions will take place at the pool of the Paris La Défense Arena, in Nanterre, with the finals scheduled to start at 3.40pm. Highlights from Brazil are Guilherme Costa, the big dog, among the men and Maria Fernanda Costa among the women.

CONTROVERSIES

Guilherme Costa will swim the 400m freestyle, 200m and 800m. Go for medals in Paris. His career best is 3min43s31. In the Olympic cycle, he was bronze at the 2022 World Championships, fourth at the 2023 and 2024 World Championships, and champion of the 400m freestyle at the Trofeo Sette Colli. Additionally, Cachorrão will compete in the Aquatic Marathon, an open water event, on the Seine.

In the women’s category, Maria Fernanda Costa recently broke Brazilian records in the 200, 400 and 800 meters, one of the highlights of Brazilian swimming, and is chasing medals in these events. Gabi Roncatto is looking to reach the final in the 400 freestyle and Beatriz Dizotti in the 1500.

Ones to watch: Eduardo Moraes who competes in the 400m freestyle and is part of the 4x200m freestyle relay. Kayky Mota will swim the 100m butterfly and Nicolas Albiero the 200m butterfly, both competing for a chance to reach the final. Guilherme Caribé of the 100m freestyle is another athlete to watch. He has good numbers, being the best of his career: 47.95. He will compete again in the 50m.

WATER MARATHON

From the marathon comes one of the best chances for Team Brazil to win a medal in Paris. In open water, Ana Marcela Cunha has a great chance to win a medal, in addition to being the current Olympic champion, having won in Tokyo 2021. Viviane Jungblut Guilherme Costa will also compete in the marathon.
