Summit in Italy discusses ‘updated’ Israeli proposal

The city of Rome, Italy, is hosting this Sunday (28) a meeting aimed at discussing Israel’s “updated” proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

According to Israeli media, the meeting in the Italian capital brings together the heads of the secret services of Israel (Mossad), Egypt and the United States (CIA) and the Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed Al-Thani.

The “updated” proposal formulated by Israel contains the conditions raised by the nation’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

Among the requests of the head of government, who recently visited the United States and met with his North American counterpart, Joe Biden, is a control mechanism to prevent the passage of militants from the south to the north of Gaza.

The Rome summit comes shortly after Israel attacked “several Hezbollah targets” in southern Lebanon.

The action was an immediate response to a rocket that hit a village in the Golan Heights and killed at least 12 people.

Israeli authorities blamed Hezbollah for the offensive that hit a soccer field in the village of Majdal Shams, but the group denied responsibility.
