In addition to the world title, the first for Brazil, the team takes home a prize of R$ 2.5 million
The PUBG Mobile World Cup 2024 (PMWC 2024) concluded last Sunday (28) with the victory of the Brazilian team Alpha7 Esports. As part of the Esports World Cup, the championship brought together the best PUBG Mobile teams in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, and distributed a total prize pool of 3 million dollars (more than R$ 16 million at current prices).
In a repeat of the final matches of the PUBG Mobile Global Open (PMGO), Alpha7 Esports and Japanese team Reject battled point-for-point all the way back in the fall to determine the PMWC grand champion. However, unlike the tournament held in Brazil in April of this year, the day fell to the Brazilian team, who finished the competition with 153 points, 29 points ahead of their rival, and crowned Alpha7 Esports world champion.
Alpha7 Esports’ victory marks the first major Brazilian result in the history of the global PUBG Mobile competition. In addition to the title, A7 achieved the milestone of the team with the most victories fallen in a world championship, with five WWCD (Winner Winner Chicken Dinner) and 82 eliminations. In collaboration with the Ayrton Senna Institute, Alpha7 also paid homage to the Brazilian driver during the final, wearing an outfit inspired by their idol.
In addition to this unprecedented achievement, Alpha7 Esports has also secured a prize pool equivalent to over R$2.5 million and an additional seat for the Americas region at the PUBG MOBILE Global Championship 2024, which will take place in the United Kingdom.
Three teams represented Brazil in the final stage of the competition: Alpha7 Esports, Team Liquid, and Twisted Minds. Team Liquid finished the competition in eighth place, while Twisted Minds finished in 13th place. The teams showed fighting spirit during the main competition, each earning at least one Winner Winner chicken dinner, demonstrating the strength of the Brazilian scene.
