Santos has begun preparations for the duel against Sport, which will take place on Friday (02), at 21:30, in Vila Belmiro, for the 19th round of the Serie B of the Brazilian championship. For the clash, however, coach Fábio Carille should not count on midfielder Giuliano again. The player is recovering from a muscle injury to the back of the thigh.
“Giuliano will not return, he will be away for a while longer. Sport, a team that at the beginning of the competition started among the favorites to climb back up and now has a change of command. This always generates expectations, with new ideas and a week to work. The most important thing is the winning behavior at home to get the three points and deserve them”, said Carille, after the draw against CRB.
Giuliano’s season has been marked by injuries. So far, Santos has played 34 games this season and the midfielder has been present in 22 of them. In other words, in 2024 he has missed a third of the games. Furthermore, he has only managed to play 90 minutes on eight occasions.
But when he is on the pitch, Giuliano manages to show how important he is. After all, he has already scored seven goals, a number that places him as the team’s top scorer this season, tied with Guilherme. He also had three assists.
Peixe’s goal now is to definitively recover his midfielder to be able to start a sequence. In Giuliano’s absence, Serginho should find opportunities in Fábio Carille’s starting lineup.
