And we don’t know if it’s better or worse than what ended up happening in the dramatic season 4 finale.
season 4 of ‘Stranger Things’ It has reminded us again that, although the Netflix series is not ‘Game of Thrones’, people do die. There are those who ask that the thing be put into series and true heavyweights fall. Also, of course, who does not forgive the Duffer Brothers, showrunners of the series, that every season they kill the newly arrived secondary characters. Killing the new ones is already a regular dynamic of the series and Eddie has not been the exception. He has hurt even more about Max, although his death does not seem permanent, his condition is very serious. Although we already have her considered a full member of the squad, let’s not forget that she arrived in season 2. That is, her life is always in danger.
Although this, let’s say, death and a half (added to Chrissy’s), has rounded off a rather dark ending, apparently things could have been worse and there is another newcomer who has narrowly escaped. Yes, we are talking about Dimitri (or Enzo for Joyce), the charismatic guard played by Thomas Wlaschiha who has stolen more than one heart online and who has formed a complete bromance with Hopper. We don’t know what became of him at the end of the season, after all he has committed high treason against the USSR. Of course, we may never see him again. However, we can assure you that he finished the season safe and sound.
Originally, however, he was not going to make it to the end alive. This is how the Duffers explained it to Collider:
In terms of who does it, who lives or dies, I think there was a version where Dimitri aka Enzo didn’t make it. Then he ended up getting it. But that’s the most radical departure from the original idea compared to what we ended up doing.
This deviation ended up saving the life of a character and, apparently, they do not usually deviate much from their initial plans.
So when we’re planning a season, that’s one of the first things we talk about, where do we want to take this story? So, the end is always that goal. Even when we’re into episode 1, we know exactly where we’re going. I don’t think we’ve really gone off track in any season with the ending, we’ve always stuck to that. I think the case is the same here.
We’re glad they changed their minds, and we trust the theory that explains how Eddie could still be alive in season 5. Less lucky Max may be in the final season of ‘Stranger Things’.
