‘Stranger Things’ season 5 and the theory that would bring Eddie back

The world of Hawkins and ‘Stranger Things’, quite frankly, didn’t deserve the sweet angel that was Eddie Munson. Introduced at the beginning of season four, it was easily concluded that he would probably be killed at the end of Part 2, becoming the last ever-present Sacrificial Lamb in the Duffer Brothers narrative.

But we don’t think the creators, or even actor Joseph Quinn, were prepared for the outright adoration this character caused at the launch of season four from fans. The troubled teen caught in the middle of Indiana’s satanic panic became a meme, became a song, and became a hero.

Eddie Munson is already an idol. So when you kill off a beloved character like this, the fans start to do the work of the writers and figure out ways to bring him back. Even after said character is eaten alive by the Demobats, the death of a hero by the people who despise him.

While some theories may be a bit far-fetched, to put it mildly (we want him back… but we have to be a little real with this stuff), there is one that actually carries some weight, because his story is so deep. perfectly parallels certain aspects of the Dungeons & Dragons lore that cannot be ignored.

And if fans have learned anything from the D&D games in the series they always tell us something we should pay attention to. In this world, there is a character known as Kas The Bloody-Handed, and he is actually a devoted ally of Vecna. In D&D Vecna ​​is known as the most powerful lich in history and considered a God of Secrets who, after recovering from defeat, tries to rewrite the world in his own image… That sounds familiar, but we’re digressing

Along the way, Kas finally betrays his master, using an all-black sword that he “whispered” to rebel against him.

This part of the story was included a bit in the fourth season of ‘Stranger Things’, in which they play in the Hellfire Club and a person is heard yelling, “Vecna ​​is dead, Kas killed him”, until the Dungeon Master Eddie declares, “I thought so, my friends.”

Kas used a shield and sword as a weapon, and while swords are hard to come by in 1980s Indiana, it’s no exaggeration to point out that Eddie fought with a makeshift spear, a knife attached to a bar, and a custom shield. hand with a tin garbage can lid and nails. But that’s not what caught our attention.

Kas’s fate within the realm of D&D is where things get a bit complicated. In the struggle to defeat Vecna, Kas is flung across the multiverse and is later transformed into a vampire.

So Eddie being bitten to death by bats… can’t be a fluke. But that also leaves a lot of question marks as to how badly those same bites would have affected his right-hand man/bromance partner, Steve Harrington, who was also attacked during season four by them.

Could Eddie be resurrected and become an important part of the puzzle to fight Vecna/Henry/001 once and for all?

The Duffer Brothers have gone on record during an interview on the podcast Happy Sad Confused that Eddie was definitely dead, but considering they are the masters of dodging answers and twisting the truth in the name of a good twist, we take their statements with a grain of salt.

After all, anyone who is even vaguely aware of vampires knows that they are considered dead. Or undead. But definitely not alive. We also don’t really know the true intricacies of the Upside Down and what rules apply there.

Actor Joseph Quinn is also clearly set to return, and has been trying to find a way to resurrect the metalhead. “Joe Keery and I were discussing ways he could come back,” he told RadioTimes.

Maybe it would be like a figment of Dustin’s imagination or something. As if there could be some kind of room for something like that, something a little supernatural.

It should be noted that if Eddie’s story is really Kas’s, his destiny isn’t exactly to return to Hawkins with a hero’s welcome and a happy life. Eventually, Kas is destroyed and becomes someone whose power can be channeled through other people, instead of existing in this universe.

Either way, we may not have had our last guitar solo yet if we keep our fingers crossed.
