The Devil in the Street in the Middle of the Whirlpool, with Caio Blat, premieres in theaters

In an itinerant way, the novelty debuts in São Paulo this Thursday, the 15th, in Rio de Janeiro on August 22nd, and in other locations afterwards

After starring Great Backlandswhich hit theaters in June this year, Caio Blat is back in the universe of Guimarães Rose in The Devil in the Street in the Middle of the Whirlpoolwhich will debut on a traveling tour starting this Thursday, August 15, starting in São Paulo.

Next week, starting on August 22nd, the feature film based on the classic Great Backlands: Paths and directed by Bia Lessa (Letters to the World) debuts in Rio de Janeiro and then in other locations throughout Brazil.

The novelty arose from a long relationship of Lessa with the work of Guimarães Rose: first, she held an exhibition at the Museu da Língua Portuguesa, in São Paulo, with texts by the author. Then, she transformed the book into a play, staged in several Brazilian capitals; and, finally, she took the story to the cinema, with the same actors from the play.

In addition to Caio Blat, The Devil in the Street in the Middle of the Whirlpool still brings Luisa Arraes and Lucas Oranmian – who were also in Great Backlands -, Luiza Lemmertz (In the Jungle of Cities), Leonardo Miggiorin (Vicky and the Muse), Daniel Passi (Unroll), Jose Maria Rodrigues, Balbino de Paula, Clara Lessa and Elias de Castro.
