New production of the Alien franchise hits theaters this Thursday (15) and took advantage of the city’s fame in the interior of Minas Gerais
While preparing the official launch of Alien: Romulusthe 20th Century Studios created a different preview in Brazil. The city of Varginha, in Minas Gerais, received several activations of the new production of the successful franchise that began with Alien, The Eighth Passenger (1979).
The new sci-fi horror film took advantage of the city’s fame to bring together celebrities for a special premiere. Names like Gkay, Daniel Pires, Lucas Cunha, Cocielo and Christian Figueiredo joined a crowd to welcome Alien: Romulus node Via CafĂ© Shopping Center.
The initiative also included a wrapped bus, sound truck, billboard, store announcer, TV and radio spots, and more.
The special action in Varginha has a reason: the city became known worldwide in the 1990s after the Varginha ET case, when several people reported that they had seen unidentified flying objects and strange beings, different from humans or animals.
Alien: Romulus
The film is the latest in a collection of nine productions from one of the most famous science fiction franchises in history.
The plot follows a group of young space colonists who explore the depths of an abandoned station when they come across the most terrifying life form in the universe.
Premiering on August 15th exclusively in theaters, Alien: Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny (Civil War), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone), Isabella Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (Aftersun) and Aileen Wu.
The film is directed by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, The Man in the Dark), which together with Rodo Sayagues also wrote the script for the work based on the characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Watch the trailer for Alien: Romulus next:
