The Merengues failed to triumph over Mallorca away from home
Charles Ancelotti showed dissatisfaction with Real Madrid’s game. After the away draw against Mallorca in the first round of La Liga this Sunday (18), the Italian coach analyzed his team’s game and indicated where they need to improve.
– We started the game well, but in the second half we lacked balance. It was a game we could have lost, because we allowed counterattacks and crosses. We have to defend better. We are an offensive team and balance is fundamental. We had problems because we were too open. We had to be more focused. It is a problem that is neither physical nor mental. – said Carlo Ancelotti.
With Mallorca’s defense inspired and without giving up any space, the Merengues began to look for a goal from a set piece, but without success. The Merengues’ team commander stressed that he did not give any excuses for the result, having taken the field with the best he had at his disposal.
– Last year I was happy with the draws, but not today. I don’t want to make excuses, but we can learn a lot from this game because it was a very clear game about where we could have had problems. The defensive aspect was not good. We had difficulties recovering the ball and applying pressure after the defeat. The balance is found with players who think the same way in recovering the ball. We have to act together. – added the coach, in a reproachful tone.
With this result, Real Madrid finished the group in 13th place in the Spanish league. Now, the Blancos will face Real Valladolid, next Sunday (25), in the first match at the Santiago Bernabéu.
