‘Thor: Love and Thunder’: explained end of the new Marvel

Marvel’s god of thunder returns and, with him, the obligatory final review of the lore of an ever-expanding Cinematic Universe.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe doesn’t stop. Although in Disney + we continue to know the powers Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan in the series ‘Ms. Marvel’, we can now enjoy the return of the god of thunder from the house of ideas on the big screen, but what has the film told us? For the most clueless loos (and for SEO) We explain in the best possible way the end of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’by Taika Waititi.

SPOILERS FOR THE SIZE OF MJÖLNIR’S IRON WILL

Before reaching the end let’s review something about the villain, Gorr, the butcher of godscharacter created by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic as an enemy of the god of thunder in the second issue of ‘Thor: God of Thunder’, in January 2013.

Raised on an inhospitable planet, Gorr sees his entire kind die and, with them, his family. When he discovers that the gods do exist but that they have done nothing to prevent his suffering, he begins a personal crusade against all divine creatures..

“Christian Bale who emerges gracefully from a characterization that could fall into being the Betis footballer Joaquín imitating Ángel Garó”, indicates Fausto Fernández in his criticism of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ on the character.

Although his fury is understandable, his evil is underlined by his possession of the Necrosword, sword created by the evil Knull from All-Black, the first symbiote. This distant ancestor of Venom grants Gorr celestial powers, flight, weapons and armies of Berserkers included, as well as forging sharp objects that can pierce Asgardians. But perhaps his greatest power is in the way he has infected its bearer, turning it into a ruthless tool of death.

Knowing the enemy, who occupies a good position in our ranking of marvel villains ordered from worst to best, it’s time to avoid his master plan, which includes reaching Eternity, an abstract and omnipotent entity that could grant him his final wish: the death of all the gods in the universe.

Unfortunately for our heroes, in the final battle Gorr has managed to open the portal to Eternity and, although The Mighty Thor Dr. Jane Foster manages to unify the Necrosword and Mjölnir to destroy both objects (condemning herself and Gorr), the black butcher manages to reach his destination, ready to take revenge with his last breath.

Devastated by Jane’s imminent death, Thor explains that he would rather spend these last moments with her than fight Gorr who, free from the Necrosword’s poisonous influence, remembers the death of his daughter and discovers that love is better than revenge.

Thus, he discards his intention to ask for the death of the gods and, finally, asks Eternity for the resurrection of his daughter, who will soon be orphaned.

Imploring Thor not to close off love as he did during their eight years apart, Jane turns to stardust in his arms proving she is a battle-slain goddess worthy of Valhalla.

Facing the prospect of loss, the two survivors decide they have themselves and, in this way, Thor ends up taking care of the little girl, whom he calls Love.

Jane is remembered as Mighty Thor, a statue in New Asgard included, while Valkyrie and Sif teach self-defense to the children of the area while Thor, turned into a father, takes care of the reborn and exceptional daughter of Gorr and together they form a new duo of warrior adventurers: Love and Thunder.
