Zeus tries to assert himself in the present, but finds resistance in the new series from the creator of “The End of the F***ing World”

Netflix has released a new trailer for “Kaos,” a series starring actor Jeff Goldblum (“Jurassic World: Dominion”) as the Greek god Zeus. The preview shows that the show takes place in the modern day, with Zeus creating catastrophe and destruction to keep humanity subjugated and bowing to his presence. However, a rebellion begins to form, including some gods who feel that mortals are being mistreated.

Created by Charlie Covell (“The End of the F***ing World”), the series follows Zeus as he becomes paranoid that he will soon lose his throne, leading him to take cruel actions and disrupt his family’s life. The story also revisits the myth of Orpheus, with Killian Scott (“Secret Invasion”) searching for his dead wife in the distant reaches of Hades.

Zeus’ Olympian family includes his wife Hera, played by Janet McTeer (“Ozark”), the sea god Poseidon, played by Cliff Curtis (“Megajaws 2”), the wine god Dionysus, played by Nabhaan Rizwan (“Station Eleven”), and other gods. The cast also includes Debi Mazar (“Younger”) as Medusa, Billie Piper (“I Hate Suzie”) as Cassandra, and Aurora Perrineau (“Westworld”) as a human named Riddy.

The premiere is scheduled for August 29th.
