Despite expectations, this project will not feature Greta Gerwig or Margot Robbie. Mattel’s decision not to go ahead with a live-action sequel could be influenced by recent statements from the director and actress. In various interviews, Gerwig expressed her creative exhaustion, stating that she did not feel up to participating in a sequel.
