“In what world is Paris like this?” : Netflix’s top 5 series premieres are not unanimous

Number 1: Emily in Paris

Emily, a twenty-year-old American from the Midwest, moves to Paris after receiving the most unexpected job offer. His new challenge: bringing an American point of view to a French marketing agency.

Viewer rating: 2.6/5

According to Poupi P (0.5/5):

“The number of clichés about Paris is quite impressive. In what world is Paris like that? A little criticism of a French model… a scenario worthy of the fires of love. No logic.”

According to Marceline Santa (0.5/5):

“I let myself be tempted because I liked Sex and the City at the time and I like fairly light series. And in the context of Paris I liked the idea. What a disappointment…”

According to Marinekic (2.5/5):

We like the quirky side, the love stories between the characters, but they don’t resemble real Parisian life at all and there are too many clichés about the French in general.

why does it work

It’s a light, enjoyable series, no frills and very often funny. Let’s just say we watch Emily in Paris more through her character’s attire and mocking her life choices (Gabriel, really?) than the script. But every season the subscribers are there.

Number 2: Umbrella Academy

The Hargreave siblings are scattered after the final showdown at Hotel Oblivion, causing their timelines to completely reset. Disempowered, they must fend for themselves and find a new normal, with varying degrees of success. However, it is difficult to ignore the peculiarities of this strange new world for long. Their father Reginald, alive and well, has emerged from the shadows and into the public eye, overseeing a powerful and sinister business empire.

A mysterious association known as the Guardians hold secret meetings, convinced that the reality they live in is a lie and that the truth will soon come out. As these new forces conspire around them, the Umbrella Academy must come together one last time—and risk upsetting the uneasy peace they’ve worked so hard to create—to finally make things right.

Viewer rating: 2.4/5

According to Justemoy (4.5/5):

“Nothing to do with the bad reviews! I loved this series. Each person has their own charm and we’re getting close fast! Klaus and Five are my favorites and I’ve loved following their adventures. Yes, the story gets lost at times, but the humor is there and that was enough for me. “

According to FranckPanPan (2.5/5):

“Episode after episode, but admittedly monstrously boring even in concept. Thankfully, the final episode makes up for this Stranger Thing-esque story a bit! It’s time for this series to end once and for all. Netflix has fulfilled its obligations.”

According to Jean N (1.5/5):

“Disaster, PURGE, as they say well!! Season 3 was a disaster at Hotel Oblivion, but that’s the problem! Not that everything is a throwaway, but we expected a lot of answers and there?? NOTHING NOTHING!!

why does it work

It is one of the most popular series on Netflix and is saying goodbye after 4 seasons. Subscribers flocked to these six new episodes that wrap up the plot. And one thing’s for sure, they totally underestimated how the members of the Umbrella Academy ended up. And we agree with them.

Number 3: American Murder – Lassie Peterson

When Lacey Peterson, a young and beautiful pregnant woman, mysteriously disappears, the media is on the case and the whole country is excited about the news.

why does it work Every new one true crime It looks like a sure fire hit for Netflix and American Murder – Lassie Peterson proves it once again. Divided into three episodes, this documentary series follows the sudden disappearance of a pregnant woman, Laci Peterson, in 2002. He was never found. Note that Netflix has already released a true crime documentary called American Murder in 2020, and it’s a completely different story about the disappearance of Shannan Watts and her children.

Number 4: Instructions to kill

Five years ago, Sal Singh killed his girlfriend, high school student Andy Bell. Case closed: The police were convinced that Sally was the culprit. Like the whole city. However, Pip Fitz-Amoby, an intelligent and determined young girl, is not so sure and she is determined to prove it. But if Sal Singh isn’t the killer, the one who really killed Andy is still out there, and who knows what he’ll do to keep Pip from finding out the truth?

Viewer rating: 3.6/5

Virgin according to Pautonnier (4.5 out of 5):

“I’ve wanted to read the trilogy for a long time but never had the courage. I watched the series and loved it, no expectations and I love it!! As a Hercule Poirot fan, I’m not disappointed so I’m going to read the books to find out more!!

According to Lionel33000:

“A very Agatha Christie mini-series, an investigation by a very curious teenager. . . excellent casting, all actors play well. Great plot with many twists and turns, it keeps your mind engaged during the episodes. .”

According to Itsme23 (1.5/5):

“The plot is poorly executed with a high school girl who thinks she’s a police inspector, but without the comedic side of Disney, which means she comes across as an empty shell.”

why does it work

Second week in a row for Killing Instructions, the detective series in 6 episodes of only 45 minutes. Subscribers raved about its fascinating story and its heroine, played by the lovely Emma Myers, who we discovered two years ago on Wednesday. If this English production is aimed at a fairly young audience, it remains an effective entertainment that allows everyone to play the role of aspiring detective during the season.

Number 5: Kengan Ashura

Underground gladiator Toki Taouma fights with his bare hands on behalf of Nogi Hideki, a ruthless businessman who spends these brutal matches to get rich.

Viewer rating (4.1 out of 5):

According to William Jay (5/5):

“It’s a rarity, you rarely come across a masterpiece like this. Stumbled across it and it was at Swicth bingo all weekend. Loved it. Anyone know of ‘another of this caliber?’

According to Fun Hobby (5/5):

“An excellent series that we are enthusiastically watching is a masterpiece. The rhythm is dynamic, the writing is careful and the action is everywhere. In addition, the series manages to move and offers a particularly successful conclusion. It is a real pleasure to watch. For me, an essential series that leaves a good impression.

According to Berserk Gatsu (4/5):

“It’s pretty good, much better than Baki, where in Baki the hero has the charisma of the mold, there the hero is a classic, the pictures are great, it’s well animated and interesting.

why does it work

do you like to fight Then Kengan Ashura is the series for you! This anime, adapted from the manga of the same name, features secret battles organized in the underbelly of Tokyo.

This play delights fans with enjoyable scenes of violence, but also plot twists. The crossover also saw the light of day earlier in the year with Baki Hanma, another successful anime produced by Netflix!
