28 Years Later, the first chapter of a new trilogy in the franchise, is scheduled to hit theaters in June 2025
About a month after filming ended on 28 Years Laterthe long-awaited third chapter of the franchise Exterminationstarted in 2002, the screenwriter Alex Garland (Civil War) and the producer Andrew Macdonald (Ex Machina: Artificial Instinct) revealed that they are already working on Extermination 4which will be a direct sequel to the new film, scheduled to premiere in 2025.
“Hopefully, we’ll make three more movies of 28with the first call 28 Years Laterthat the Alex wrote, and Danny [Boyle, diretor do primeiro filme] directed, and it was just filmed”stated Macdonald to the The Hollywood Reporter.
“So we’re about to start, tomorrow morning, actually, the second part. And then we’ll hopefully have a third part and it’ll be a trilogy.”he concluded in an interview published last Sunday, the 18th.
What we already know about 28 Years Later?
Announced in December 2023, the new film’s plot has not yet been revealed, but it should take place almost three decades after the events of the first film, as the title indicates, loosely translated as 28 Years Later.
The screenwriter Alex Garland (Civil War) and the director Danny Boyle (Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?) will be back in their roles in the new series. The story of the first sequel, Extermination 2released in 2007, should be ignored, as the film had no connections with the first film.
