Camp Crystal Lake is getting ready to open its doors again. Not for the cinema, but for the small screen. In development for several months, a series project about the world of Friday the 13th is produced by A24, a fashion production company in the United States. This is their first project in the popular franchise – the company is primarily known for financing independent films.

Fans have reason to rejoice: development is moving forward as a medium term It recently revealed the name of the series’ creator, Brad Keil Kane – the co-creator of Welcome To Derry, the prequel series to the It films. Originally, Bryan Fuller – Hannibal’s showrunner – was at the helm before leaving the project last May due to artistic differences.

For now, the plot of this series remains a mystery. When it was first announced, Crystal Lake was billed as a prequel series about the infamous killer Jason Voorhees, but it’s possible that A24 has changed its plans.

The Friday the 13th saga is one of the most famous horror franchises in cinema. He has no less than 12 films – including remakes and crossovers. Crystal Lake won’t be the first series centered around the world of Jason Voorhees. In the mid-eighties, when the character was at the height of its popularity, a series was created, from 1987 to 1990. It spanned three seasons.

The Crystal Lake project is expected on the American Peacock platform. The information does not indicate where the series will be available in France.
