The new film, which stars Adam Driver (Star Wars), premiered during the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival and divided opinions.

Megalopolisnew film by Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather), which was produced over forty years, has gained a new trailer mocking the negative reviews received after the film’s premiere in May of this year at the Cannes Film Festival.

The preview recovers criticisms of old works by Coppolaas The Godfather (1972), Apocalypse Now (1979) and Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), which ended up becoming classics, affirming that the filmmaker was always ahead of his time. Watch below:

What is the story of Megalopolis?

Written and directed by Coppola, Megalopolis took forty years to finally reach movie theaters. The idea for the film – which tells the story of an architect, played by Adam Driver (Star Wars), with the desire to rebuild New York City in a utopian way after a disaster – emerged in the 1980s.

However, at the time, Coppolla was unable to secure funding to produce the film at the time. In order to get it off the ground, the filmmaker sold some of his properties and finally managed to raise around $100 million to make it. Watch the trailer:

Who else is in the cast of the film?

In addition to Adam Driver, Megalopolis still has Giancarlo Esposito (Kaleidoscope) Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Nathalie Emmanuel (Fast & Furious 10), Dustin Hoffman (Rain Man), Shia Labeouf (The Peanut Butter Falcon), Jason Schwartzman (Asteroid City), Laurence Fishburne (John Wick 4: Baba Yaga), Jon Voight (Ray Donovan) and Forest Whitaker (The Butler of the White House) in the cast.

When does it premiere? Megalopolis?

Distributed by Lionsgate, Megalopolis is scheduled to premiere in North American theaters on the next 27th of September. However, the new product still has no confirmed date to arrive in Brazilian movie theaters.
