While a series based on Riley’s dreams is slated for Disney+ next year, and the announcement of a third opus wouldn’t be much of a surprise, Pixar and Entertainment Weekly today revealed a scene cut from Kelsey Mann’s film. The pictures are very far from being finished, as it is clearly not past the story stage. But they represent one of the emotions that was ultimately left out of the story.

It’s a shame this extract should have been neck and neck with anxiety while Riley plays “I never had” With friends from his hockey camp. An emotion that manifests itself as a slender woman with long hair behind which her face is increasingly hidden to the teenager’s discomfort.

“I wanted to explore that feeling of not being good enough, that feeling of being too hard on yourself”Director Kelsey Mann explains in the video. “And it really comes out in this scene near the end of the movie. It’s the climax. In this version, you see shame and anxiety together. They’re a duo. We dug into this idea of ​​Riley being shamed. Out of control, causing a storm.”

“There was an element of that in the final cut, but instead of a spiral of shame, we ended up making it just about anxiety. It simplified the film by reducing it to just one character—anxiety alone, instead of needing you. Let’s split the chapter between shame and anxiety.”
