After revealing a few days ago the films that will be in official competition during its 50th edition, the Deauville American Film Festival has revealed the highlights that will mark this anniversary edition. The appointment is made from 6 to 15 September.
Talent was awarded…
This year, two famous faces of American cinema will be honored to receive the Deauville Talent Award for their careers: Michelle Williams and Natalie Portman. The festival has already awarded the Black Swan actor last year for the premiere of his film in December of May (directed by Todd Haynes).
These two women, in their own way, have shaped a part of American cinema by making some of the greatest films and offering performances that are sometimes striking, sometimes timeless. They will meet Sebastian Stan on the Cote Fleuris, who will receive the New Hollywood prize.
…and directors in the spotlight
Who are the directors who have shone in the American auteur cinema in recent years? The Deauville Festival chose to feature a talent accustomed to the venue, the brilliant Sean Baker.
The American film director surprised Croisette a few months ago with Anora, a kind of beautiful woman who left him with the Palme d’Or. Festival-goers will also have the opportunity to preview it and discover its first four works, unpublished in France.
The public will also be able to meet two filmmakers in “conversations” during the events: James Gray and Christophe Honoré, who will discuss their vision of American cinema by revealing a library of their favorite films.

The organizers stopped the teams with a tempting selection of previews this year:
