Star Wars Episode 1: Pause for 1 hour and 29 minutes and take a good look at these creatures

Each episode of the famous Star Wars saga contains a certain amount of hidden details, and, of course, The Phantom Menace (the first part of the prelogue produced in 1999) is no exception.

Hidden on the back of a battle droid on George Lucas’ first sci-fi film, a module that looked like 2001: A Space Odyssey hidden in the Watts dump, or even a rogue appearance by Keira Knightley and Sofia Coppola among the servants. Queen Amidala… you are spoiled for choice!

In 1 hour, 29 minutes and 13 seconds…

In addition to the little easter eggs we just listed, the first episode contains another slightly different wink. Well known to fans, it may have escaped your attention if your knowledge of the saga is not very advanced, or if you have not seen the adventures of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi several times.

It is located exactly at 1 hour, 29 minutes and 13 seconds into the movie, when Padmé arrives to plead the cause of the planet Naboo to the Senate of Coruscant. A noble and ancient institution of the Republic, this assembly consists of thousands of chambers representing all the peoples of the galaxy. There we meet, for example, a delegation of Wookiees or even a group of Twi’leks.

…ET’s cousins are in the Senate!

But if you look closely at the timecode above on the bottom left of your screen, you’ll notice the presence of creatures you’ve never seen before in the Star Wars saga, and yet know all too well.

You are not dreaming: these are really ET’s fellow creatures, the little alien hero of Steven Spielberg’s famous movie!

This very friendly wink highlights the legendary friendship that has always united George Lucas and the father of Jurassic Park. The latter also opened the ball in the ET sequence with a child disguised as Yoda (whom the little alien immediately recognized).

But in addition to being good evidence of a conspiracy between the two filmmakers, this easter egg is also one of the main arguments for the theory that ET actually come from a Star Wars galaxy far, far away.
