A year earlier, the success of Welcome to Zombieland was great, but it was the social network that brought Jesse Eisenberg into the big leagues. A biopic about Mark Zuckerberg and the creation of Facebook, which few believed on paper (despite David Fincher behind the camera and Aaron Sorkin in the script), the feature film has become one of the most important and iconic of the 2010s.

Fifteen years later, and while he’s taken on other roles and moved behind the camera, Jesse Eisenberg is still associated with the creator of Facebook, but he soon won’t be the only one playing him. Because Aaron Sorkin is currently filming a new movie slated to hit our theaters on October 7th, 2026, in which the character will be played by Jeremy Strong, the Succession star who currently stars in Springsteen’s Deliver Me from Nowhere.

Titled The Social Reckoning, the feature film will not be a direct sequel to David Fincher’s hit, but a spiritual sequel. While the latter was inspired by the book “Lonesome Revenge” By Ben Mezrich, its successor will be based on articles published by Jeff Horowitz. The Wall Street Journal and grouped under the heading “Facebook Files”where he exposed the inner workings of the Empire with the help of engineer Francis Haugen, who played a whistleblower.

When the project was announced, it was particularly about how Facebook led to a January 6, 2021 storming of the Capitol by Donald Trump supporters to prevent the confirmation of Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election. A scene that could be the highlight of a feature film was shot in a short amount of time.

Also in Springsteen’s Deliver Me from Nowhere role, Jeremy Allen White will join the cast of The Social Reckoning, dressed by Jeff Horowitz, and Frances Haugen will be played by Mike ‘Anora’ Madison, in her first post-Oscar Best Actress project. The film will also feature Billy Magnussen, Wunmi Mosaku, and Betty Gilpin, but not Jesse Eisenberg, who was asked to promote Elusive 3.

“My reasons have nothing to do with why this movie is going to be really incredible.”He responded to the Today Show. “But when you play a character, at some point you feel like you’ve turned into something else.” Without specifying whether or not he was offered the role, Jesse Eisenberg did explain that he was approached by Mark Zuckerberg and that he managed to go beyond this major figure of our time: “It’s going to be a great movie. I’m friends with Aaron Sorkin, who wrote and directed it, and the reasons for my absence have nothing to do with the outcome and how brilliant it is going to be.”

Like The Social Network in its day, social accounting raises a few eyebrows when we talk about it, especially considering how David Fincher set the bar so high. But there is reason to be very interested in this feature film, which, if it also manages to capture the spirit of the times, is likely to leave its mark. Judgment in less than a year.
