The production promises to reveal the behind-the-scenes and impact of the magazine that pioneered male nudity in Brazil
Globo is developing a documentary series for Globoplay in G Magazine, a Brazilian publication that ran from 1997 to 2013. The magazine was a pioneer in the Brazilian publishing market for showcasing male nude photoshoots, which were hugely successful before the advent of the Internet.
“We will have an original Globoplay documentary in G Magazine, without a premiere date yet,” said Globo’s press office, confirming the production. The series, treated with the utmost confidentiality, has already begun to record the first testimonies of actors and directors involved in the magazine, including the names that have graced its covers, such as Alexandre Frota, Mateus Carrieri, Latino, Vampeta, TĂșlio Maravilha, Tony Salles and Rodrigo Phavanello.
The documentary promises to address not only the behind-the-scenes of the photographic productions, but also the cultural and social impacts that the magazine has had, especially on the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, the production will tell the challenges faced by the artists who participated in the trials and the repercussions that these participations have had on their careers.
The documentary is scheduled to premiere in June 2025 and is considered one of Globoplay’s big bets for next year.
