Franca beats Sao Paulo and gets fifth win at Paulista

In a match valid for the Paulista Basketball Championship, Sesi Franca defeated São Paulo 69 to 56 and reached the milestone of five victories in the competition. The team occupies second place in the state ranking, behind Pinheiros. In the other match of the day, Corinthians defeated Liga Sorocabana.




The first quarter ended with a 16-11 French victory, after the team scored eight consecutive points in the last minute. The second half was then much more balanced and the game continued with the same score difference. The Tricolore came back better in the second half, turning the game around, but saw the national team regain the lead. Finally, in the last quarter, Sesi Franca made excellent defense and made great use of perimeter balls, sealing its triumph by 69 to 56.

Lucas Dias finished as the game’s top scorer with 20 points, while also recording seven rebounds and six assists. Another strong point for Franca was winger Georginho de Paula, who scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. On the San Paolo side, center Ralfi Ansaloni almost finished with a double-double, scoring nine points and grabbing 15 rebounds.

The ball also went high for the Campeonato Paulista of Votorantim, in the interior of São Paulo. Playing away, Corinthians beat Liga Sorocabana with a score of 77 to 61. Rafael Munford, reinforcement of the black and white club for the new season, led the attack with 20 points and five rebounds. This was Timão’s fourth win in the competition, while the Sorocaba team lost for the seventh time in seven rounds.
