Guillermo del Toro is no stranger to monsters, but what about ghosts? On the set of his next film, the new adaptation of Frankenstein for Netflix, the director had a strange, not to mention paranormal, experience within the walls of a Scottish hotel.
Everything starts on August 20. The filmmaker has been at work for several months now, filming a retelling of Oscar Isaac and Jacob Ellord’s Mary Shelley classic. Very active on X, he confirms the progress of the project by posting several photos and tells his subscribers that he is preparing to sleep in a hotel like no other.
“I’m in Aberdeen and I’m staying in an old hotel from the 1800s, I’m in the most haunted room – vacated this morning by one of our producers– he writes in the first post. Strange electrical and physical phenomena scared him and left as soon as possible. Stay tuned – I’ll let you know if anything happens.“
“oppressive” atmosphere
The message has been “liked” by thousands of subscribers who are already eager to discover the rest of his adventures. Guillermo del Toro continues:I always stay in the “most haunted rooms” but have only experienced one supernatural event – the rest of the time: nothing. I have a lot of hope.”
Two days later, on August 22, he added:News – All I can say is that nothing has happened yet, but the atmosphere in the room is depressing and I’m not going to spend any more time. The director specifies that the reservation for this room was sleeping in another room.
This part has more than just vibrations.
“There’s something in the room with me… I’m waiting for a story or two if something happens or not“, he warns. Also on August 22, Guillermo del Toro leaves the filming of Frankenstein and announces that he is going back to his room: “This part has more emotions, there is something angry here. Energy full of anger.”
The sequel is unfortunately very disappointing for fans of paranormal stories. The filmmaker posts some photos and ends his journey today with the following message:No noise, no ghosts, just an oppressive atmosphere. Room #4, I’ll be back… Life is full of surprises. No grand finale.”
