With 5 or 7 seats, the new Caoa Chery Tiggo 9 has its arrival in Brazil confirmed by the president of Caoa and can travel up to 1,400 km on a single tank.
Caoa Chery’s SUV lineup will soon get bigger in Brazil. During the launch of the new Tiggo 8 Pro in Anápolis (GO), Caoa Group President Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Andrade Filho confirmed to reporters in advance that the new Tiggo 9 will arrive in the country in 2025. According to the young executive, the new SUV will be produced locally starting next year.
Larger than the Tiggo 8, the new Caoa Chery Tiggo 9 has already been registered with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). Presented in China at the beginning of last year, the model is the flagship SUV of the Chery brand. Externally, it follows the design of the latest models of the Chinese car manufacturer. The front features thin LED headlights with Matrix technology.
They are integrated into the front grille, which features vertical fins. On the side, the door handles are retractable, and at the bottom of the doors there are surprising creases and a frieze. The wheels are 20″. At the rear, the LED lights are connected to each other. They pass through the trunk lid, which also houses the license plate. Just above, there is the name Chery written in full.
Inside, the finishings are very refined, with rubberized materials of different shades. The 12.3″ digital panel is integrated into the multimedia center, also equipped with a 12.3″ screen, in a single frame. There is also ambient lighting and seats with electrical adjustments and massage functions.
In China, there are 5- or 7-seater versions. In Brazil, at least the second option must be offered. As for the engine, the new Chery Tiggo 9 offers two very different options in China. One of them has a 2.0 turbo petrol engine with 260 hp. There is also a plug-in hybrid version, which adds a 224 hp electric motor in the rear.
The combined power is 336 hp, with a total range of up to 1,400 km in the Chinese test cycle. The new Caoa Chery Tiggo 9 combustion engine will be produced in Anápolis (GO), where Caoa Montadora already produces Caoa Chery and Hyundai models. In the country, the new Tiggo 9 could be equipped with the 1.6 turbo engine with 187 hp from the Caoa Chery Tiggo 8 Pro.
The transmission would be automated with double clutch and 7 gears. The hybrid version should arrive imported from China, at least initially. The prices of the new Tiggo 9 have not yet been confirmed by Caoa Chery, but the model should cost over R$210,000, being the largest of the models in the Tiggo line.
