Since the franchise’s inception, NCIS has regularly tapped the children of its main cast to play certain characters in its storylines. Mark Harmon’s son, Sean Harmon, played the young Gibbs parent in several episodes of the series. But he’s not the only actor to bring his family to NCIS.

Chris O’Donnell’s family in NCIS: Los Angeles

During his 14 seasons at the helm of NCIS: Los Angeles, Chris O’Donnell, Cullen’s translator, had the opportunity to bring several of his wives to the detective series, as well as his five children.

Caroline, his wife since 1997, appeared in 2015 during NCIS Season 7 Episode 4: Los Angeles, along with their daughter Maeve. Lily starred in Season 1 Episode 24 alongside her brother Charlie, who played the young Cullen for the occasion.

Charlie also appeared in episode 12 of the first season in a completely different role. His other son, Finley, also played the younger father in seasons 2 and 3 of NCIS: Los Angeles.

O’Donnell’s youngest son was almost absent from the series

While four of Chris O’Donnell’s five children appeared in the first seasons of NCIS: Los Angeles, we had to wait until last season’s finale to discover the face of Chip, the eldest of the siblings.

The latter should have appeared earlier, but Covid decided otherwise. “He was supposed to play Kellen in a flashback and then the COVID…R. NCIS: Los Angeles showrunner Scott Gemmill confided in our colleagues. TVLine.

But all of Chris’s other kids appeared on the show except for Chip, so I said, “Okay, I’m running out of time, I’ve got to put him in the last episode.” It was a nice tribute to Chris.” A beautiful family story!
