With a brace from Mitrovic, Al-Hilal beat Al-Akhdoud in the first round of the Saudi championship.
Al-Akhdoud and Al-Hilal faced each other this Saturday (24) in a match valid for the 1st round of the Saudi Championship 2024/25. Al-hilal won 3-0 in the duel held at the Prince Hathloul stadium, with goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic (2) and Milinkovic-Savic.
Playing away from home, Al-Hilal were already superior throughout the first half, despite wasting many chances. After just 4 minutes, the team took over the exchange of passes and opened the scoring with Mitrovic.
For Al-Akhdoud, even though they had only conceded one goal so far, the situation was no longer comfortable. The few times they managed to advance, they lost the ball before finishing, thus having only one in the first phase, which did not present great danger. Godowy made a good move and tried from outside the area, but without success.
In the 39th minute, in a well-planned play, Hamdan made a great pass to Mitrovic, who again directed the ball into the top left corner of the net.
In injury time Milinkovic-Savic scored a beautiful free kick, precise and of quality, and with a great goal he extended the lead. The first half ended with three goals from Al-Hilal.
In the second phase, Al-Akhdoud improved their performance, but despite managing to stay more in attack, they failed to reduce the advantage of Jorge Jesus’ team, who controlled the pace well throughout the match and achieved the victory that was expected.
Al-Hilal will return to the field next Wednesday (28), when they will face Damac at 15:00, also in the Saudi championship. Al-Akhdoud will face Al-Ettifaq the same day, shortly before, at 12:45, for the same championship.
