According to Cristienne, weight training can help control varicose veins, preventing and reducing their appearance. “Weight training promotes muscle strengthening, which improves blood circulation and can help prevent and control varicose veins,” says the specialist.
However, there are some contraindications to be aware of. “People who already have advanced varicose veins or significant vascular complications should consult a doctor before starting a weight training program. In some cases, high-impact exercises may not be recommended and low-impact alternatives may be more appropriate.”
Therefore, the angiologist emphasizes the importance of taking some precautions for those who want to practice bodybuilding. “It is extremely important to start with professional guidance and gradually increase the intensity of physical exercises and the load. High-intensity movements and excessive load can increase pressure in the veins, exacerbating the problem of varicose veins,” he concludes.
