Nostalgic Moment: The iconic cartoon Ranma 1/2 gets a facelift for a new version. The second animated series based on the legendary Rumiko Takahashi’s manga will air exclusively on Netflix from the beginning of the school year.
This iconic series from Club Dorothée follows Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo, who are engaged after a pact between their fathers. But their completely opposite nature makes this union completely improbable. Especially since Ranma is hiding a secret: when he touches the cold water, he takes on the features of a young girl!
A true gem of humor, Ranma 1/2 also enjoys breaking the rules of romantic comedy. The relationship between the two heroes will be turned upside down by the appearance of various rivals and suitors, as well as the intervention of colorful characters such as the old satyr Happosai, a martial arts expert.
There have been other cult anime remakes
The audience also remembers the French theme song of the first version, sung by lead Bernard Minet. But the new series, on the other hand, will be broadcast respecting the Japanese names of the characters and without credits in French (although VF will definitely be offered).
French credits for Ranma 1/2:
This second adaptation is produced by the MAPPA studio, which is also used for the anime Attack on Titan and JuJutsu Kaisen. Ranma 1/2 is not the first Club Dorothée cartoon to be the subject of a remake, as there are remakes of Fly (Dragon Quest: La Quête de Daï), Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque (Les Chevaliers du Zodiac : SAINT SEIYA) and Olive and Tom. (Captain Tsubasa) also saw the light of day.
You can watch the new animated series Ranma 1/2 on Netflix from October 5th.
